Art Related Activities

 

In addition, to being an accomplished artist, Pauline has contributed to her local art community in many ways.

2021 (Volunteer) - Art League of Ocean City on Saturday Oct 16th at a Harbor Day Event. The League is a multifaceted visual arts organization that meets its mission through its gallery and arts-outreach programs.

2021 (Volunteer) - Pauline was at the “Create” booth working with children in the community to create collages at The Blairs Mural Festival. A public art experience in Silver Spring, MD.

2020 (Judge) - As part of their community out-reach, The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission sponsored a show in which the submitting artists were children in grades K-4, 5-8. & 9-12. To win a monetary prize the students were charged with creating a piece of work depicting “A Day Without Water” There were 70 entries of which one winning artist and one runner-up from each grade level category were selected for their artistry in interpreting the theme.

2020 (Residency) - Pauline was the Artist in Residence for the Month of August at the Center for Cultural Arts in Ocean City, Md. The Residency provided her a studio where she worked and greeted visitors. Over one hundred art enthusiasts dropped by to view her art, talk about her process and discuss the role of art in their lives.

2020 (Juror) - The Artist Gallery of Ellicott City, Md invited regional and local artists to submit art for the gallery’s “Local Color 2020 Show”. Sixty-three artists submitted a total of 121 entries. Of these, 39 artists were selected to exhibit 2 images each in the show. Pauline was one of three jurors making the selection and identifying pieces worthy of a 1st, 2nd or 3rd  place monetary award. 

2019 (Organizer) - Homeless shelter residents (90) were preparing to transition out of 2 shelters (managed by the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless) to new homes. Two shows where 177 pieces of art donated by local artists were displayed. Each resident was encourage to review the show and pick 2 pieces of work they liked at no charge. Pauline was instrumental in acquiring the donated art work and mounting the show.                                                            

2019 (Workshop Leader) - In conjunction with her solo show, “Celebrate the Fruit of the Vine”, at the Ocean City Art League, Pauline taught a workshop on painting wine bottle images. There were 15 attendees.

2018 (Juror & Art Advisory Board) - The non-profit, Make Room USA’s goal was to raise the awareness of the affordable rental crisis in America. They sponsored a public art project entitled The Doors of Make Room. Eleven artists were selected to paint fiberglass doors with an image that would represent Make Room’s goal. As a member of the advisory board, Pauline provided technical advice.  She participated  in selecting the artists and their artwork for the project.
